RESIDENTS FELLOWS OF THE HEALTH SYSTEM July 22 at 7 and 50
OPEN LETTER TO COMMUNITY
Those who write, residents and fellows working in the public health system ( doctors, psychologists, social workers, pharmacists, biochemists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, physiotherapists ), we write to you to present.
Why today? Because we believe that in the context of a health emergency by the influenza A virus, again we should stop silencing precarious working conditions that result in a precarious health system .... Also emergency. Because we involve them in the struggle to come underway for some time, after a transformation of the health system.
We are who we are at the forefront of the current health situation, that we take care to attend to the sick. And we do it largely alone, as the lack of charges coupled with the large number of leave taken during an emergency makes the "luck" of patients relies almost entirely on us.
"The reality is that only 500 pesos want more," said Minister of Health of the Province past year, at the long list of complaints that we have presented in the Ministry for a long time. And he added: "I do not know what I can give because you can not claim it first, no guild structure for it."
is striking that our demands are reduced to a sum of money, especially considering that residents who can not claim, also after three or four years at most five, we were right out in the street. Without 2000, or 500, or a weight, after working as frontline soldiers in the battle to guarantee the population access to a public health system.
Residents, who by the Minister are nothing, exist. If we do not exist, countless people suffer the consequences of running out of care because they have no Social Work, or money to pay benefits. We get the difficult task of sustaining the health system in emergency.
For this situation we need to share with the community to attend and consistent complaints we have been making claims that are set to red in the current epidemic of H1N1 Influenza:
· missing basic supplies and building conditions suitable for proper community care beds, respirators, oxygen saturation, etc.
· There is a shortage of human resources to provide health assistance. Most staff present in the hospital consists of residents and fellows, that although they are trained to fulfill this function are not well recognized by the competent authorities.
· None hospital career: after four years of training, the vast majority of residents are expelled from the health system seeing bound to insert in the private health system.
"You get paid to train you," they say with pride, concealing a situation of exploitation of labor cheap, sweeping under the illusion that implies for any professional to have won a competition to enable honorably for a short time, the work in the field of what one has studied, has chosen profession. And to make matters worse, you can not complain.
The reason why we can not hear it because the truth hurts. Unfortunately, we have to embody the place of termination of the crisis facing the health system because of who put the body to the emergency and under National control plan come residents carried out and before the current health emergency, which shows clearly the crisis that comes through the Argentine health system, we argue the National and Provincial Government are responsible for the situation we have been experiencing.
is our commitment to Health is a right, which can be accessed by all. Let there be no hospital for the poor and others rich.
We are working for you, we are the community. Just wanted to introduce ourselves and get to know our situation: the situation of Public Health.
